NRI SABHA PANCHHAT was formed in May, 2020 with a purpose to take up development projects in our village Panchhat with financial support from NRIs (belonging to Village Panchhat) settled around the world.
Sabha was visualised as a non-profit, non-political and voluntary organisation. It was also decided that Sabha would be gradually developed into a transparent and democratic body with a well-defined Constitution.
Eventually, Sabha was developed as a membership based organisation in which members would take all the decisions. On 26th July 2020, members overwhelmingly voted in favour of registration of Sabha in Canada. On 2nd August 2020, Sabha elected its first Directors- Charanjit Singh for 3 years, Avtar Singh for 2 years and Narinder Singh for 1 year.
With a green signal from the newly-elected Board of Directors, Sabha was finally registered in Canada on 12th August 2020 under the Canada Not-for-Profit Corporation Act. On 28th August 2020, the members ratified/adopted the BYELAW (the governing document) of the Sabha. In future, if members decide, Sabha may set up its subsidiary in India.
