ਸਵੈਸੇਵੀ ਬਣਨਾ

ਭਾਰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ‘ਸਵੈਸੇਵੀ ਬਣਨ’ ਦਾ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਵਿਕਸਤ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਪ੍ਰਚਲਿਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਦੇਖੋਂਗੇ ਕਿ ਲੋਕ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਿਆਂ, ਮੰਦਰਾਂ ਜਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਮੌਕਿਆਂ ‘ਤੇ ਨਿਸਵਾਰਥ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਭਾਈਚਾਰਕ ਸੇਵਾ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ। ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਵਿਹਲਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਉਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਗੁਜਾਰ ਦਿਆਂਗੇ ਪਰ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਲਾਭਦਾਇਕ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਾਂਗੇ। ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਥੋੜ੍ਹਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਕੇ, ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਲੇ-ਦੁਆਲੇ ਇੱਕ ਕਾਫੀ ਸਕਾਰਾਤਮਕ ਤਬਦੀਲੀ ਲਿਆ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ।

ਸਵੈਸੇਵੀ ਬਣਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਨਾ ਕੇਵਲ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋ, ਸਗੋਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਦਦ ਵੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਤਮ-ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਸਵੈ-ਮਾਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਧਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਅਹਿਮੀਅਤ ਦੇਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਚੰਗੇ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਲਈ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨਾ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਆਤਮ-ਸੰਤੁਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਣਾਅ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਧਿਆਨ ਭਟਕਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਵਨਾ ਘੱਟ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ। ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਛੋਟੀ ਜਿਹੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਇੱਕ ਖੁਸ਼ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਤੁਸ਼ਟ ਸਮਾਜ ਦੀ ਸਿਰਜਣਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।

The idea of ‘Volunteering’ is not as popular in India as in developed countries. You will find people doing selfless service in Gurdwaras, temples or other religious occasions but when it comes to community service, we are not very enthusiastic about it. We may just idle away our spare time but won’t do any useful work for the community. By doing a small bit on our part, we can bring a considerable positive change around us.

By volunteering, you not only help the community, but you help yourself at the same time. You gain in your self-confidence and self-esteem. You begin to value life and working for a good cause gives you self-satisfaction. You will be less prone to stress and other distractions in life. Your small effort helps create a happy and contented society.
