OUR VISION

NRI Sabha will be non-political i.e. it will not support any political party. It will not engage in any political activity. But it would not be wrong to invite a leader of the ruling party for an inauguration.

NRI Sabha will be a non-profit organization i.e. no work will be done for profit, but user charges can be levied for providing a service.  In this way, the service provided will not be misused and funds so collected can be spent on its upkeep.  If there is any profit, it will be spent for development only.

NRI Sabha will be a voluntary organization. Anybody can join as a member if he fulfills the conditions of membership. No one will be compelled to join or donate to the Sabha. No salary, or financial benefit will be provided to the officers or volunteers of   the Sabha. But occasionally, refreshment for volunteers can be arranged with the advance permission of the Sabha.

NRI Sabha is a membership-based body i.e. all important decisions shall be taken by the members by majority. Members shall elect directors, and the Board of Directors shall lead the Sabha.

As per BYLAW, there shall be two types of membership –

1.             The annual fee for class A membership will be 1000 Canadian dollars. Class A members can fight the Directors’ elections of the Sabha.

2.          The annual fee for class B membership will be 200 Canadian dollars. Class B members cannot fight the Directors’ elections of the Sabha.

It is recommended that the NRIs subscribe to one class of membership but if for any reason they don’t want to be a member of Sabha, they can still contribute to our projects as per their capacity. 

A team at the village level will be required for the smooth completion of the projects. The Sabha shall appoint educated, experienced and resourceful persons to the Project Teams. The Sarpanch shall be a member of each such team. If the members so desire, the Sabha would be registered in India in future.

The Sabha shall also need young volunteers in its projects. The youth shall be requested to register as volunteers. In this way, the youth shall develop interest in community activities and enable them to understand the functioning of the Sabha which will be necessary for its continuity.

The projects run by the Sabha shall be of two types:

1.    Community Projects- The project in which Sabha and the village community shall be partners. The funds shall mainly come from the Sabha, but the villagers shall also be able to contribute as per their capacity.

2.    Sponsored Projects- The Projects which shall be financed by a family or a person. They can manage these projects with the support of the Sabha or also give full responsibility to the Sabha. The full credit for these projects shall go to the family or person. They can use their names or pictures on these projects.

We shall select our projects on the basis of following parameters –

1.                   Purposefulness

2.                   Environment friendly

3.                   Safety 

4.                   Budget/Economical

We must be careful that the Sabha remains autonomous and free from manipulations by anyone. If this happens, the Sabha will lose its effectiveness, purpose and direction. Therefore, there shall be no one face of the Sabha, i.e. no one individual shall lead it. The Advertisements, posters, etc. shall not carry any names or photographs of the Sabha officials.

At present, Only 26 NRIs have come forward to register with our organisation. There are many more who can join and be a part of this ‘movement’. More the members, more shall be the budget of the Sabha. It is simple arithmetic: If we succeed in attaining a membership of 100, the annual budget at the minimum shall be 100 X $200= $20000(approx. Rs. 10 lakhs) which is not a small amount by any standards. Imagine, what not is possible if we have this budget year after year.

Our strength lies in numbers. All NRIs, unite under the aegis of Sabha and it shall be a force to reckon with.
